Hi, I’m Mary.

The alarm goes off at 6 am on a chilly morning in Salmon, Idaho.

Wake up the girls, grab a chai tea, breakfast is served, lunch is packed and headed to school by 7:15.

Back home and it’s time to feed the rest of the herd. Literally. Cattle and horses, calves, goats, rabbits, pigs all are waiting their turn. My husband Lowell has been out working since sunup too, maybe our paths will cross around lunchtime. Here on our ranch we utilize regenerative agricultural practices for both our grass-fed beef program and natural beef program.

Paperwork & bookkeeping, moving cows, checking fence, plowing snow, making dinner, laundry, dishes, chopping firewood, more cooking and cleaning - something always needs fed and something always needs cleaned…

Off to pickup girls at 3:30 and it’s homework, chores, dinner, baths and bed!

This is a normal day around here on the ranch in Salmon, Idaho. Momma, rancher, wife and more - my days are filled with hustle and bustle. As my 3 girls began to grow up (Lilly 14, Avery 12, Quincy 10) I found myself craving something I could call my own. Something I could do, something I could make, something I already loved and used every day but could craft for others to enjoy. This is how the idea for Hanging Moon Silver came to be.

I’ve done a lot of things, for a lot of different people, in a lot of different places in my lifetime but this - this is for me. This is my opportunity to spend time creating and crafting beautiful one of a kind pieces to wear and cherish. I pour my heart and soul into each creation, never really knowing exactly where a wild idea might take me, but I’m always pleasantly surprised by the outcome and enjoy the creative process.

My jewelry is built to withstand a hard working lifestyle like the one I lead. I’ve designed my pieces to be durable and sturdy but not to get lost in the herd - I want it to stand out! I’m the type of girl who sorts cows with hoop earrings and 3 big rings on my fingers. I want my jewelry to get dirty, to see the world, to be out and experience all of life’s adventures right by your side. I use the best quality, most unique stones in my work letting them be the centerpiece, letting them tell the story.

It’s my hope that something I have made will be a piece that’s cherished by someone else. Loved hard and worn well and passed down like my jewelry will be to my girls.

Whatever you do, don’t let your pretty stones and silver sit on the dresser waiting for the right time to shine. Throw on some hoops and cowboy boots and hop in the saddle.
